@Follow24Hodge I trust the eye and IQ more than analytics. That helped me win 3 chips and flip the worst program in the country to one of the best.

That time Larry Bird decided to play left-handed against the Blazers because, and this is an actual quote, “I’m saving my right hand for the Lakers.” He put up 47 points, 14 boards, 11 assists. Two nights later, the Celtics beat the Lakers at the Forum.

As a head coach for 8 years one thing you know is EVERY successful program needs a LOYAL, HARD WORKING, EGO-LESS assistant coach/coaches who are LOYAL, WORK HARD, KNOW THE GAME, WANT TO LEARN and know you have their best interest in mind.

Great event the other day for Coach Bob, Chris Hurley and the Hurley Family Foundation. Didn't win in golf but won 1 of 4 raffle prizes. Got a @UConnMBB signed basketball by the best College Men's Coach in the game @dhurley15. The things they do for our community is heaven sent

People always ask me what is wrong with youth sports today. My top two answers are the costs and the parents.

I learned so much from @chrischavannes truly one of the best teachers of the game but also life. He showed us there were no days off when you had goals. We practiced on Christmas Day because we knew everyone else was taking off that day. Anything to get one up on others.

My boy "the youngest in charge" had himself a day. Two TDs from hand offs from goaline to goaline playing a grade up as well. Plus grabbed a flag. Love how much he loves competing and winning. The world is yours Jaxson!! This year off from coaching was a blessing in disguise.

Success isn’t just about how you perform when everything is going right. It’s about how you respond when everything is going wrong. Build the mindset. Build the character. Build the resilience. Those lessons will last far beyond the scoreboard. ~Coach Pat Devaney

The best athletes develop mental fortitude. They learn how to respond when things don’t go their way, believe in themselves when they struggle, and use positive reinforcement from within to keep pushing forward.

Teach your kids who play sports how to deal with adversity, because there will be far more adversity than success throughout their journey. Teach them to stay confident, resilient, and positive. No matter what happens around them, those are things they can always control.
