From my NEW Youtube VIDEO: "RARE Color FOOTAGE in Normandy 1944: 2nd PANZER Division's COMBAT TACTICS VS Allied Forces EXPLAINED" Check it out!! ... This report by the 2nd Panzer Division discusses the combat dynamics of the battle of Normandy for units of the division. In this clip, the chief of staff talks about the paralyzing effect of allied artillery & air superiority and how it prevents the 2nd Panzer division from conducting successful attacks during the daytime. German infantrymen then suffer heavy losses while advancing only a few hundred meters. Eventually, this would force attacks to be made only at night, and for local objectives- very short ranged counterattacks. #WW2 #WWII #tank youtube.com/shorts/q-gtHvT…

NEW VIDEO: "RARE Color FOOTAGE in Normandy 1944: 2nd PANZER Division's COMBAT TACTICS VS Allied Forces EXPLAINED" Check it out!! .... This video presents wartime footage and documents detailing the operations orders and tactics of the 2nd Panzer Division in the Battle of Normandy 1944 by its division commander General von Lüttwitz. This veteran unit, one of the original panzer divisions established in 1935, was sent to fight in the battle of Normandy 1944 against the US Army & British Army with their Sherman tanks and Cromwell tanks. The bocage, allied artillery and air superiority presented unusual challenges for the German Panzer IV and Panther Tank and forced them to adopt small unit tank tactics instead of traditional attacks with concentrated and powerful combined arms forces. 2nd Panzer division was considered an elite unit in Normandy by the German command. It was initially supposed to be one of the spearhead units to defeat Operation Overlord. Later it was used as the spearhead of the Mortain Counterattack and it would be the spearhead of the Ardennes offensive or Battle of the Bulge. #WW2 #WWII #tank #tanks #history youtube.com/watch?v=KnMX1Q…

On D-day +22, Guderian writes a report to Hitler that the Tank tactics in Normandy are not large scale but small unit action due to the bocage and broken terrain: the use of combined arms (tank, infantry, recon) company and platoons based on 1-4 platoons of tanks at most. #tank #tanks #WW2 #WWII youtube.com/shorts/djelaza…

NEW VIDEO: "RARE Color FOOTAGE: ACE Michael Wittmann at VILLERS BOCAGE, Panther Tank & Stug III in Normandy 1944" Check it out!! .... This video includes a wartime Letter of recommendation for Tiger Tank Ace Michael Wittmann at Villers-Bocage. Wittmann was the second highest scoring Panzer Ace of WW2 and his most famous action was at Villers Bocage in Normandy 1944 shortly after D-day and Operation Overlord. In this battle he and other panzer crews defeated an outflanking maneuver by the British 22nd Armored Brigade and the 7th Armoured Divsion 'Desert Rats' . The German units involved was the 101st SS Heavy Panzer Battalion and the Panzer Lehr division. The Tiger Tanks and Panzer IVs defeated British Shermans and Cromwells, along with universal carriers. The defeat at Villers Bocage forecasted the degeneration of the battle of Caen from rapid exploitation to positional warfare. The second part of this video is a wartime report from Heinz Guderian, inspector-general of the Panzer troops who gives his opinion of the negative combat performance of the Stug III Assault Gun in the Bocage and also critiques the Panther Tank in Normandy. #WW2 #WWII #tank #tanks #history youtube.com/watch?v=6dIm5P…

From 'Epic WW2 Review' youtube channel: Unlike the Red Army, or the Allied forces which rely on their superior artillery forces, the German Army on the Eastern Front relied on their Air Fleets and Air Corps to provide heavy breakthrough firepower with massive concentrations of close air support. Close Air Support were coordinated by "Flivos", which were ground-controller air force officer teams mounted on armored communications halftracks, trucks or even command tanks. In offensive operations, large such as at Kursk or routine as in an operational level counterattack Tiger units found themselves deployed in the first wave of the attack. NEW VIDEO: "BEST Book Haul: RED ARMY Attrition & REBIRTH in WW2, David Glantz's Soviet Military History" Check it out!! .... David M. Glantz is an American military historian known for his books on the Red Army during World War II. In Stumbling Colossus, David Glantz explored why the Soviet Red Army was unprepared for the German blitzkrieg that nearly destroyed it by the end of 1941. In 1941 the Red Army was damaged from the purges, poorly trained, inadequately equipped, ineptly organized, and consequently incapable of engaging in large-scale military campaigns. In Colossus Reborn he recounts the miraculous resurrection of the Red Army, which, displaying grasp of military strategy and operational prowess, stopped the Wehrmacht in its tracks and turned the tide of war. The pre-war doctrine of Deep Battle or Deep Operations turned from theory a reality. #History #WWII #WW2 #redarmy #easternfront youtube.com/watch?v=1iKsaG…

From my youtube video "COMBAT Footage & How the 3rd BATTLE of Kharkov CREATED the Battle of KURSK, Walter Model's GAMBLE": Check it out!! .... Operation Citadel presented many military dilemmas from the start, and was very controversial among the German command, leading 3 months of delay. The solution to this problems at the time was to strengthing the order of battle and focus on training & accumulating advanced weapons. An update on what I've been working on recently. I've slowed down the long form videos to 1 a week recently to convert old notes into new scripts for 8-9 videos covering various underserved German/Soviet subjects that I've been planning on for a while. (Panzer operations West of Kyiv, Soviet Infantry Army & Tank Army, T-34 Medium Tank Wartime Tactical Doctrine, 3rd Fallschirmjäger in Normandy, battles of General Hermann Balck, how a Panzer Korps operates in Combat) There will also be a visual shift on the channel towards using 100% archival footage with photos to accompany the scripts or wartime documents. I intend to roll out this new series, along with Kursk (16 videos left) ,Tiger Tank (12 videos left), Best 313 WW2 Tactical/Operational Books, and Wartime Documents of the Panzer Troops 1939-1945 soon. I recently read "Defeat at the Dnepr", a history of the battles between 1st Ukrainian Front (mainly 38th Army, 3GTA, 1GCC) vs. 4th Panzer Army (mainly 48th Panzer Korps). This is my favorite forgotten campaign in WW2, alongside the Zhitomir-Berdichev Offensive. The 48th Panzer Korps attack, with 700 Panzers and Stug III assault guns was the 3rd biggest German armored assault on the Eastern Front in 1943. (First being Kursk, 3rd Kharkov) Initially it was aimed at creating conditions for the retaking of Kyiv after the Vatutin Kiev Offensive but it was quickly more focused on re-establishing the front to ensure the survival of 4th Panzer Army west of Kyiv. I was happy to see that finally, after 15+ years someone did a well researched history on the forgotten Soviet "Kiev Defensive" (German Panzer counteroffensive West of Kyiv). I have already written several videos about this great, dynamic and interesting forgotten battle. epicww2review.substack.com/p/coming-up-on…

NEW VIDEO: "Why Wehrmacht's Wonder Weapons Strategy FAILED VS Soviet Red Army's Production & Mobilization in WW2" Check it out!! .... During WW2, the German military industrial complex was heavy focused on producing advanced technology while the Soviet Union was focused on 'good enough' aircraft, tanks and artillery pieces that could be mass produced with semi-skilled workers. King Tiger Tanks, Panther Tanks, Ferdinand Tank Destroyers, V-1, V-2, Me-262, and Type XXI U-Boat to name a few. The Red Army benefited from extremely high arms production and trop mobilization that offset their qualitative deficiencies and disproportionate losses. They produced over 100,000 artillery pieces and mortars (like the Zis-2, Zis-3) and over 100,000 tanks and SPG (like the T-34, KV-1, IS-2, SU-152, ISU-122) Meanwhile German tank production remained suppressed relative to Luftwaffe expenditures and too many resources were committed to extremely expensive designs. Even as the war turned against them in 1942-1944, Germany's leadership had a bias towards high quality combat equipment even at the expense of production numbers. Many believed that wunderwaffe, or miracle weapons could turn the tide of the war dramatically in their favor. #History #WWII #WW2 #redarmy #easternfront youtube.com/watch?v=Uef_G8…

The claimed numbers of Enemy tanks knocked out by Panzer-Regiment 'Großdeutschland' in Manstein's counteroffensive in the 3rd Battle of Kharkov can be found in wartime reports. The tactical victories of the unit caused it to be assigned the spearhead of the Operation Citadel and reinforced with 200 units of the new, untested "Panther Tank" with the Panzer regiment lead by the 'Panzer Graf'. youtube.com/shorts/mN2_zzc… #tank #WW2 #WWII
