Appreciate @near_intents / SHIELD for stepping up on the Bitget incident: flagged $50M+ in attempted laundering flows, froze $503k mid-execution, and waived their own bounty share so we can recover more. This is what permissionless but not "facilitating known stolen funds" should look like. A public chain doesn't have to choose between being open and excluding hackers, you can build the risk detection in and still let anyone use the chain. More protocols should take notes. Quick recap from today's livestream: 1. Withdrawals BTC live on Bitcoin Mainnet & BSC — 9,585 orders, 4,098.036 BTC processed as of 17:00 UTC+8. ETH, USDT, others follow in phases starting tomorrow. 2. What happened Full trace-back complete. The attacker exploited vulnerabilities from third-party products to steal internal credentials, then used those credentials to send fraudulent withdrawal commands that bypassed our risk controls. Private keys were not compromised, and cold wallets were not affected. 3. Security measures taken -The incident has been contained. Affected systems were isolated and the vulnerability has been remediated. -Relevant servers were isolated to prevent further compromise and preserve forensic evidence. -Internal credentials were revoked and reissued, with access to highly sensitive systems restructured. -We notified the relevant third-party vendor, shared details of the vulnerability and disabled the affected functionality pending a fix. -Mandiant and SlowMist continue to support the independent forensic investigation and asset-tracing efforts. 4. Your funds 100% covered by the Bitget Protection Fund. No user impact. Fund will be topped back up to >$300M with our own capital within the week. 5. Mandiant and SlowMist continue to support the investigation and on-chain tracing efforts. Bitget has also published the identified attacker addresses and relevant tracing data to support broader industry collaboration and asset recovery efforts. Bitget expects to complete an internal security report this week and will share further updates as findings are verified. We remain committed to transparency and will continue to provide material updates through our official channels as the investigation progresses. The September 24 incident is the first security incident of this nature affecting Bitget Exchange in eight years of operation.

Please note that BTC withdrawal on BSC Network is also now open. Earlier today, our CEO Gracy Chen addressed the incident and community inquiries during a live AMA. Watch the replay here: x.com/i/broadcasts/1… The investigation found that the attacker exploited a vulnerability in a third-party security product used by Bitget to obtain high-level internal credentials. The attacker then used these credentials to send fraudulent withdrawal commands to the wallet system, causing it to execute abnormal transfers that bypassed risk controls. Private keys were not compromised, and cold wallets were not affected. Bitget has identified the attack path, remediated the vulnerability and contained the incident. No further unauthorized transfers have been identified following containment.

Bitget has begun the phased resumption of withdrawals following the security incident identified on September 24, with BTC withdrawals on the Bitcoin network started at 08:00 UTC on September 28 as scheduled. The resumption follows additional security work across Bitget's withdrawal infrastructure. The vulnerability has been remediated and the incident remains contained, with no further unauthorized transfers identified following containment. User account balances remain unaffected.
