A million years ago a dinosaur, or tree, or some organic creature lived, thrived, survived, and died. Its body became crude oil, was extracted, sent to a factory, became a plastic knife, voyaged by freight across an ocean, made one sandwich and was thrown away.

Today I was giving voice commands to my car to send a message which was the beamed to a satellite in space and then back down to someone else’s phone, all while i flew down the freeway and I had to pause and be amazed and how like a science fiction novel our lives are.
