Been playing Order of the Sinking Star. It's pretty good. I generally find "pure" puzzle games tiresome after a bit, but this one has enough variety to not become a chore after hours of playing it. Which is surprising given how incredibly long it seems to be.

@Acerola_t I haven't seen such talk. Having seen the trailer, it all looks more or less the same so no clue what they are talking about. After the first few days I'm trying to not bother checking online discourse about this game much because it's mostly serial complainers complaining.

@XorDev Ideas and money. "Run the top model for 5 days straight to get something that looks like an unfinished simcity" is interesting for the tech and future, but too expensive for the average broke indie that would rather spend the 5 days coding it themselves with better control.

With the victory of the new gamer president, common law has been upgraded into rare law. Congress is debating going further into epic law or maybe even legendary law, but the hoarder faction refuses to spend the resources claiming you need to save them for the reelection fight.

@iquilezles Is that right? The only time I was in the right place and right time for a solar eclipse was for an annular one, and you could barely tell it was happening with the right glasses or noticing that the shadows were weird. A total eclipse sounds a lot better.

@wookash_podcast Thanks for the list. As for why they don't exist, I think with how Outer Wilds took 7 years to develop and started as a master thesis it gives a bit of a hint. Blue Prince also took like 8 years to develop. I don't think they can be "mass produced" by your usual game companies.

@spurpleheart Most of the monetized open internet is like this now sadly. If you go discuss things in popular open forums half the replies are bots and astroturfers, and some people don't notice. Gotta go back to closed groups, places that check identity, etc.

@KenneyNL Yep. I think it's not the paperwork that annoys me the most, but that the guides and instructions to do these things are somewhat convoluted and when you ask around it's full of unhelpful people telling you to pay someone to do it for you instead of giving you answers.

@Acerola_t Speaking as a game developer, that is correct for some games, false for others. And it's even less correct if you start counting 3rd party subscription services that ended up ingrained in the codebase and can't be provided standalone (e.g. someone's using Firebase, etc).

@XorDev Bots / astroturfing / social media / internet getting popular. Back in the day you'd chat with 20 other somewhat reasonable nerds so open forums made sense. That internet is long dead unless you carefully gatekeep your forum. Some discords are the closest replacement.

@Mr3sk In my opinion, it only makes sense if the movement/actions of the game are limited and the enemies do more "bumping into you" than actual attacks. Basically a way for the game to have a bit more going on than it would without it, and it stops being needed if you add complexity.

@Acerola_t You have made the wrong assumption that the problem is with how you express things, and for a different set of words being able to solve the problem. The problem is intrinsically within the people you're interacting with, and no amount of words will fix it.
