ServerlessDays Belfast @BFSServerless

☀️ “You come to Belfast, it's sunny. That's a surprise, right?” Patrick Debois brought the energy, insight, and humour to ServerlessDays Belfast! From the joy of learning through sharing, to the thoughtful critique of how we use AI, his talk was packed with wisdom 💡 🎥 Watch the full talk here: youtube.com/watch?v=861fwk… #ServerlessDays #AI #TechEvents #PatrickDebois #BelfastTech #Serverless

And we are GO for General Admission tickets for #bsidesbelfast25! This year we're going for Donation tickets on the GA to support the core operations of the conference, so if you can, chuck a few more coins in, and if you can't, the minimum is still £10!🫶 bsidesbelfast.org/register/

🗣️ "It’s not just about what people have done — it’s about how they’re making a real difference with software." @davidand393 That’s the spirit of #ServerlessDaysBelfast. Whether it’s hearing from legends like Patrick Debois on AI software, or Simon Wardley on tech evolution, the big value lies in fresh perspectives and real-world impact. Software engineering has evolved dramatically — not in principles, but in toolsets. From serverless to AI, the focus now is building with purpose: quality, value, and community. What makes these events special? It's the people. The stories. The energy of folks who are passionate about shaping the future of software. 💬 What’s your biggest takeaway from this year’s ServerlessDays? #Serverless #AI #SoftwareEngineering #TechEvents #CommunityDriven #BelfastTech

🚀 “Serverless is what I learned first — I’ve never known anything else!” Yasmine Rigby, currently on placement at Hamilton Robson while still at Ulster University, delivered a fresh and inspiring perspective at #ServerlessDaysBelfast. In her talk, “Slaying Big Data with Serverless Functions: Scaling up with AWS Lambda”, Yasmine shared how starting with serverless gave her a modern, streamlined approach to development — from having everything in one place to easily testing, deploying, and scaling with CI/CD. It’s a reminder that the next generation of tech professionals are not just adapting to serverless — they’re growing up in it. ✨ Talk Highlight ✨ We’re still thinking about Diren Akkoç’s brilliant session at ServerlessDays Belfast: “From Data Stress to Data Mesh: Breaking Up with Silos!” 💥 Diren, from @fourtheorem , shared how teams can move from chaotic, siloed data environments to a scalable, flexible data mesh architecture — powered by serverless. “Today I will be talking about Data Mesh. We have lots of clients where we help them to build their data platform. Almost all the services we are using are AWS Serverless Services. For example, AWS Lambda, AWS Lake Formation. Serverless is our default. Actually, we use serverless every single day because it is the way to go!" – Diren Akkoç 📺 Missed it? 🚀 “Serverless has been our default for the last couple of years.” – Mark O'Connell, SVP Engineering & Site Lead NI, at EverQuote. We were delighted to have Mark share his reflections at #ServerlessDaysBelfast — both as a speaker and as a leader from one of our headline sponsors, EverQuote. Mark captured the evolving mindset of modern engineering teams: moving beyond “how do we build this in serverless?” to “how do we integrate this into everything we do?” 🗣️ From the excitement of Simon Wardley's keynote to the anticipation for Conor Teer’s session, it was a full day of inspiration, community, and serverless insights. Big thanks to Mark and the EverQuote team for your continued support. 🙌 #Serverless #TechCommunity #BelfastTech

🔥 ServerlessDays Belfast was buzzing with energy — and AWS brought the heat! 🔥 A huge thanks to Ronan Prenty, Principal Solutions Architect at AWS, for his powerful message during the event. With a standout presence from AWS — including the Lambda team, product managers, engineers, and partners — Ronan highlighted the growing impact of serverless technologies on cost savings, scalability, and rapid feature delivery. 💬 “It’s incredible to hear how our customers are using serverless, particularly on AWS, to reduce costs, scale with user demand, and ship new features faster.” Ronan and Julian Wood also took the stage to explore serverless super agents — pushing the boundaries of what's possible with modern cloud architecture. @BFSServerless It was great fun, thank you for inviting me.

We’re still pinching ourselves that @swardley was our keynote speaker at #ServerlessDaysBelfast 🤯 🗣️ “In physical engineering, you don’t dig a mine with a blender. But in software, we often treat everything the same—whether it's healthcare or online gambling. That’s like using a kitchen blender for everything.” Simon’s talk was packed with wisdom, wit, and a timely reminder that context matters more than ever in software—and in strategy. 🛠️ Community-led tech events matter – especially when they’re built by engineers, for engineers. There’s nothing quite like hearing real-world stories from people solving real-world problems. That’s exactly what @BFSServerless – and it clearly made an impact on Eoin McCartan, a

🚨 Are you leading an AI business… or just trying to impress your boss? 🚨 AI is everywhere. The pressure to deliver “something cool” is real—but chasing the shiny object won’t build a sustainable business. Prompt Engineering feels powerful right now. It’s accessible. It saves time. It feels like innovation. But it’s a bridge, not the destination. The future? → Agents that work quietly behind the scenes → Machine-readable APIs that expose real business value → Systems that evolve and adapt, not just show off 🔗 Whether you're a senior engineer or a CEO, leadership in AI means making long-term, high-value bets—not just cool demos for Monday morning. We mapped it out 👉 theserverlessedge.com/the-ai-agent-m… 💬 Let’s talk: How is your team navigating the hype vs value challenge in AI? #AI #Leadership #WardleyMaps #PromptEngineering #AgenticAI

It’s hard to believe it’s already been nearly two weeks since ServerlessDays Belfast at the Titanic Hotel 😢 From breakfast in the Pavilion Bar to the closing keynote in Drawing Office One, the day was packed with learning, energy, and real conversations about the future of serverless and beyond. Paul Toner, Senior Software Engineering Manager at @GlobalEOR captures what the day was all about: “What’s really exciting from today’s talks is that we’re really digging into what the customer journey is all about and focusing on the user journey… It’s been exciting to see people talking to the strengths of their journey and what’s went well — and also the pitfalls. We want to make sure our engineers are skilled not only with theoretical knowledge but with hands-on practical experience for the long term.” Massive thanks to the speakers, sponsors, and every attendee who made it such a special day. Until next time! 💙 #ServerlessDays #Serverless #TechCommunity
