📣 ASML just said the quiet part out loud. Europe’s most valuable company sells zero chip machines in Europe. Not because the technology is lacking but because almost no new fabs are being built here. The EU Chips Act was supposed to fix that. It didn’t. The US, China and India roll out the red carpet and write the checks. Brussels bureaucrats write another strategy paper. Europe has the engineers and the capacity. It doesn’t have leaders who care about outcomes more than process and Bolshevik ideology. Most European capitals are economic engines. Remove Prague and Czechia’s GDP per capita drops 22.5%, Brussels takes 21% off Belgium, Stockholm 19%, Paris 13.6%. Remove Berlin and Germany’s GDP per capita barely moves: –0.4%. Isn’t that telling? Other capitals concentrate corporate headquarters, banks, law firms, consultancies and high-value private services, Berlin concentrates government, NGOs and administration. Berlin’s unemployment and welfare rate is about 70% higher than the German average. Only about 33% of Berlin‘s residents are employed is in the private sector. Anyone surprised that 57% voted for far-left and left parties in last Sunday’s Berlin elections? Of course they vote for parties that promise money for nothing, scream “tax the rich” and seriously call this nonsense “social justice.”

this is insane. i genuinely don't understand why ambitious people aren't shown this lecture before their careers start consuming their entire lives. clayton christensen spent his career studying why successful companies collapse. in his final class, he asked students to apply the theory to themselves: if you keep allocating your time the same way, what life are you actually building? he had already seen the answer in his own harvard mba class. everyone looked successful at the fifth reunion; by the 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th, many were unhappy, divorced, and living far from their children. work shows you the score immediately. close a sale, ship a product, finish a presentation, earn a promotion, get paid. an hour with your child may produce nothing you can measure today; it may take 20 years to understand what that hour built. so the next free hour goes back to work, one rational decision at a time. this is how people build lives they never planned: through hundreds of right decisions that lead in the wrong direction, day after day. the full 19-minute lecture is in the attached video. money, titles, and headcount are easy to count. christensen believed a life should be measured by the people who became better because you were there. he died in 2020. one question remains: if someone saw only where your time, energy, and attention went this year, what would they think actually mattered to you? charlie munger described 25 psychological tendencies that influence decisions about money, work, status, and other people. read the article below and run the 25-point audit on one decision you're making now.
