A group of 53 animal welfare, wildlife, and conservation organisations has urged the Tamil Nadu government to examine the ownership, acquisition, and age records of five young elephants transferred from Assam to temples and religious institutions in Tamil Nadu. thehindu.com/news/national/…

This is how that 'cute temple elephant' lives for the rest of her day. Most captive elephants in India are tied up almost the entire time on both their legs. This is your 'Ganesha'! SHAME ON US! #saveyourbhounti #verifythefive #endelephantcaptivity #savethefive

THIS IS NOT ENDING. Yesterday, another community dog was allegedly killed, and the body was found thrown in the jungle behind B Block at IIT Hyderabad. The photographs and video being shared are deeply disturbing. One of the photographs appears to show the dog limping and bleeding before its death, raising even more serious questions about what happened to this animal and whether it received any medical attention. Who killed this dog? Who authorised it? Who transported and dumped the body? Why was an injured, bleeding animal not given immediate veterinary care? These are questions that demand an immediate and independent investigation. IIT Hyderabad must preserve all CCTV footage and other evidence, identify those responsible, and ensure that any action taken against community dogs is lawful and humane. An educational institution cannot allow cruelty, disappearance or killing of animals to become a method of managing community dogs. The photographs and video are being shared as evidence and for the attention of the concerned authorities. We demand answers. We demand accountability. We demand justice for this voiceless life. #IITHyderabad #AnimalRights #AnimalWelfare #CommunityDogs #StopAnimalCruelty #JusticeForAnimals #Accountability #SaveCommunityDogs

Five elephants arrived in Tamil Nadu. But their journey didn't begin at the Tamil Nadu border. Their real histories began years earlier—in Assam. That's why we need to know what the original ownership, birth, DNA and microchip records actually say. #FreeTheFive

Two kids in a frame..just different realities for each 😔 Elephants are sentient beings that crave for families and connection. How can we justify tying up a baby for a lifetime of isolation and cruelty in the name of tradition? #StopElephantCaptivity #Verifythefive #Savethefive

India really sunk to the lowest depths of humanity and transported these little baby elephants out of their forest homes in the North-East state of Assam to decades-long lives of spirit-crushing shackles and concrete cages in temples in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. I'm disgusted with Tamil Nadu and fuck the Assam forest officials for selling these baby elephants off 😭 I don't believe in curses but may calamity strike the temples that bought these Indian elephants and the people who sold them in the first place. Sorry Shiva 😭😭 and Durga. And the other three. #freetempleelephants #savemadhuri #bantempleelephants #freemadhuri #savemadhuritheelphant #freemadhuritheelephant #Indianelephant #elephants #elephant #savedurga #savedurgatheelephant #freedurga #India #freedurgatheelephant #Maharashtra #Assam #TamilNadu #Vantara #Ambani #Ambanis #Reliance #Jio #Gujarat #BRICS #QUAD

LOOK AT LITTLE SHIVA. Said to be just 6 years old, this tiny elephant is one of 5 baby elephants brought from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples. Shiva is now at the Thiruvannamalai temple. But how old is Shiva really? His age, provenance, parentage, microchip, DNA and ownership

Poor baby shiva can barely walk because of the chains and still people believe that an animal living in temple is the safest place for them! Free the elephants from temples that's known as devotion rather than chaining them up and putting malas on them #whythechain @CMOTamilnadu

We call elephants sacred. Then shouldn't we care about the story of each individual elephant? Not just their name.
Not just their temple.
Not just their ownership certificate. Their mother. Their birthplace. Their history. #NoElephantsInTemples

4 out of 5 baby elephants have reached various temples of TamilNadu to live in life long captivity. It’s neither morally nor legally correct. It’s absolutely unacceptable that for any reason should these baby elephants be separated from their family! @TVKVijayHQ @moefcc

The transfers of these 5 baby elephants are not just morally reprehensible, but also legally unsound. SC directives of Aug are ignored, there has been no clearance by HPC, paperwork which takes weeks was done in hours! #WhyTheChains #NoElephantsInTemples #StopElephantCaptivity

Nearly 3,000 km from Assam to Madurai. For a five-year-old elephant, the journey itself deserves careful welfare documentation. #whythechains #StopElephantCaptivity #SaveDurga #SaveShiva #SaveHiralal #SaveBijuli #SaveRupsing

🐘 Durga is only 5 years old. She has already been moved from Assam to a temple in Tamil Nadu. We need the world to ask: can her future be one of freedom and rehabilitation rather than lifelong captivity? @WildlifeSOS @elephantvoices @savetheelephants Sign Petition c.org/rG7zj6hJ98 #SaveDurga #WhyTheChains #NoElephantsInTemples #StopElephantCaptivity

Today is National Elephant Appreciation Day.

📍Punjab Agricultural University For nearly 20 days, feeders & feeding vans have been blocked from entering PAU Ludhiana. Community dogs across campus are starving to skin & bones, needing emergency care, while past instances saw mother dogs & puppies relocated. Starvation is not population control

Shooting in the air and bursting crackers at a panicked wild elephant in Ujire (Karnataka) is sheer incompetence. When you fragment and destroy forest corridors, animals will naturally push toward human margins. Terrorizing a cornered tusker with gunfire solves nothing and puts everyone in danger. Stop treating systemic habitat destruction with reckless noise and panic. @aranya_kfd Protect their corridors, or stop pretending you care about conservation. @DKShivakumar @moefcc @ntca_india @PetaIndia @pfaindia @LiveLawIndia @narendramodi @Tejasvi_Surya #SaveIndianAnimals

Update about this elephant Thankfully help received! Forest department and vets are treating the elephant! #Animalwelfare

URGENT ELEPHANT RESCUE NEEDED PLEASE ACT NOW🚨 This magnificent elephant is in severe pain with a serious leg injury and infection and appears unable to stand or move properly. Locals are trying to provide food, but this is an urgent medical emergency requiring immediate intervention by the forest and wildlife authorities. Every passing hour could make the situation more critical. 📍Kacharigaon Tea Estate, Rangapara, Sonitpur, Assam @moefcc @assamforest @CMOfficeAssam @assampolice @PetaIndia @pfaindia @WildlifeSOS @PMOIndia Please send an expert wildlife veterinary rescue team to the location immediately assess the elephant and begin appropriate treatment. This magnificent soul cannot speak for himself. We must speak for him. Please amplify this appeal and help get the right authorities to the ground before it is too late. #ElephantRescue #SaveIndianAnimals #WildlifeRescue #Assam #SaveWildlife

An IIT Bombay student just exposed the whole drama🚨 Reporter: "What actually happened on campus? Was there really any caste discrimination?" Student: "Not at all. The guy was caught cheating with ChatGPT during the exam. The professors literally counselled him and told him his academic career was safe. He was dealing with severe personal pressure, but no one wants to talk about that." Reporter: "Then why is this being turned into such a massive outrage outside?" Student: "Because Congress and their ecosystem immediately jumped in to hijack the tragedy. They don't care about the student or his mental health. Their only goal is to play the SC/ST card, divide students, and run their political campaign." Making a fake caste narrative just to score cheap political points is shameless. Weaponizing a personal tragedy for party politics is wild 🙏

VIDEO | Chennai: A captive elephant Durga—a five-year-old female transferred 3,000 km from Assam to the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai. Founder for 'People for cattle in India' Arun Prasanna said that the intense physical and psychological trauma inflicted by relocating a young calf over long distances, separating her from her herd, and placing her in non-natural, paved temple environments unsuited to her complex species-specific needs. He questioned the legal transparency, procedural scrutiny, and ownership history surrounding her transfer, raising alarms over alleged potential commercial interests.
