Het overgrote deel van Nederland zou vóór een hogere erfbelasting zijn. Althans, dat stelt het Centraal Planbureau, precies op het moment dat de grootste vermogensoverdracht uit onze geschiedenis voor de deur staat. Maar toen ik in de onderliggende data dook, ontdekte ik iets opvallends. Ik kan je alvast vertellen: hier zit een behoorlijk luchtje aan. Ook het debat over box 3 gaat onverminderd verder. Terwijl de Eerste Kamer zich buigt over een van de meest ingrijpende belastingwijzigingen van de afgelopen jaren, lijkt een deel van de politiek nog steeds geen ene malle moer te begrijpen van rendement, risico en inflatie. Ik laat je een aantal fragmenten zien die werkelijk te schrikbarend zijn voor woorden. En dan de inflatie. Die zou afgelopen maand 'fors' zijn gedaald, zo jubelden analisten, vooral dankzij de lagere olieprijs. Maar ondertussen worden de boodschappen in de supermarkt gewoon steeds duurder, en loopt ook de olieprijs inmiddels alweer stevig op. Dus hoe houdbaar is die daling eigenlijk? Tot slot kijken we natuurlijk naar bitcoin. Want na maanden van dalende en zijwaartse koersbewegingen stapelen de belangrijke signalen zich op. It is the metal behind AI. One AI data center can need 50,000 tons of copper. The world is building 527 new data centers right now. Every one of them needs copper. Power. Cooling. Wiring. Infrastructure. JPMorgan says data center copper demand is hitting 475,000 tons this year. 4x last year. S&P Global projects a 10-million-ton copper shortage by 2040. It takes 19 years to open a new copper mine in the US. Ore grades are down 40% since 1991. We are digging deeper for less copper every year. That’s the part nobody understands. Nvidia needs data centers. Data centers need power. Power needs copper. Even Jensen Huang is bullish on copper. Remember, I’ve predicted all the market tops and bottoms for the last 15 years, including the exact Bitcoin bottom at $16,000 three years ago and the top at $126,000 in October.
