The Nevada Transportation Authority unanimously approved full commercial permits for Tesla, Waymo, and Uber. Tesla’s permit now allows up to 5,000 robotaxis in Clark County over the next 12 months. Waymo and Uber each received approval for 1,000 (Uber via partners including Motional and Zoox), for a potential total of around 7,000–8,000 robotaxis in the area. $TSLA

Good Morning! Futures are looking relatively flat, with ES -9 and NQ -60. Oil prices are continuing to move higher, with WTI Crude around $86 a barrel this morning. The U.S. claims they are making progress on oil moving through the Strait of Hormuz. Tankers are reportedly using the Omani side of the strait to avoid disruptions.  Trump is ramping up economic pressure on Iran, warning countries, banks, and businesses of major consequences for helping Iran evade sanctions, particularly through oil sales and financial networks. The chips are flat this morning, but memory looks like it wants to get going with $SKHY leading. $DRAM is up 3%.  $BTC is over $71k, triggering a massive short squeeze that wiped out $2.7B in bearish positions. Shorts accounted for roughly 92% of nearly $3B in total crypto liquidation. When a short gets liquidated, that causes forced buying of the underlying asset to cover those positions, so that's causing $BTC to move higher.  The crypto linked stocks are all moving: $MSTR, $COIN, $HOOD, $CRCL, $BMNR

Good Morning! Futures are looking flat, with ES +3 and NQ -40. The techs are weaker this morning with the Nasdaq underperforming the S&P 500. Oil prices remain elevated, with WTI Crude at $85 a barrel. According to the Financial Times, Iran is considering strikes on U.S. military assets in Europe if Trump escalates the conflict. Possible targets include U.S. facilities and subsea cables near the Strait of Hormuz. Yesterday, Trump said there are “no talks” or conversations going on, or scheduled. $AMZN is leading the Mag 7. Yesterday they announced their plan to raise their Louisiana data-center investment from $12 billion to $18 billion and added a third campus. That reinforces the narrative that AWS demand remains strong and that Amazon is still expanding capacity to meet it. $MRNA is up 16% on positive Phase 3 data showing its personalized mRNA cancer vaccine, used with Merck's existing cancer drug Keytruda, worked better than Keytruda alone at stopping melanoma from coming back or spreading.  $SKHY is up 4% after announcing a $28.6 billion share buyback and cancellation, one of Korea’s largest ever, while raising its shareholder return target above 50% of free cash flow. I don't see any other significant moves this morning. Everything else looks relatively flat.  Today we'll get the FOMC Minutes from the July meeting, which will be released around 2:00 PM ET. The market will be monitoring those minutes closely for any clues about the Fed's outlook on inflation and future rate policy. We also have the White House crypto summit today with Trump, the SEC and CFTC chairs, and executives from $COIN and other companies. That could bring some positive regulatory news or developments surrounding the stalled CLARITY Act. This could be a catalyst for $BTC and the crypto linked stocks.

Good Morning! Futures are down, with ES -33 and NQ -339. The techs are weak this morning, with the Nasdaq underperforming the S&P500.  Oil prices are higher this morning, with WTI Crude around $84 a barrel, as tensions in the Strait of Hormuz escalated after a cargo ship was struck, damaging its engine room and causing a crew casualty. $NVDA is backing a massive OpenAI data center in Ohio with over $100B in credit support and a $1.5B investment in developer SB Energy. The project could use more than 1M Nvidia chips and generate up to $200B in hardware revenue for Nvidia. The memory and storage names are down this morning with $DRAM down 5%. $WDC and $STX are the weakest in the sector.  Semiconductors are down this morning, with $SMH down 3%. $INTC is one of the weakest in the sector, while $AVGO appears to be the strongest.  $FN is down 9% and it's putting pressure on the AI connectivity / optical networking sector this morning after reporting a strong Q4 earnings beat on Revenue and EPS. The drop is due to investors focusing on margin pressure, negative free cash flow from capacity expansion, and guidance that failed to exceed elevated expectations. This moves with $AAOI, $LITE, $COHR, $CIEN, $GLW, $ALAB, $CRDO, and $MRVL.  Watch for that typical rotation out of chips and into software. The software sector is showing some strength this morning with $IGV trying to go positive. $WDAY and $NOW are leading.  If we see a "risk off" sentiment with the AI infrastructure stocks today, we could see that money flow into "safer" sectors like healthcare and pharma, so keep an eye on $LLY and $UNH.  $RDDT will be replacing $AVB in the S&P 500 effective today. Bond yields are rising as bond investors are growing more concerned about rising debt, heavy AI infrastructure borrowing, and inflation. Higher oil prices could add pressure, potentially keeping Treasury yields elevated. Bond yields have an inverse correlation with the stock market. As bond yields rise, stocks become less attractive and the stock market drops. So keep an eye on bond yields.
