RESHORING: For the first time in more than 50 years, Britten-Norman — the UK's only sovereign commercial aircraft manufacturer — is building its iconic Islander in Britain after transferring production from Eastern Europe to its historic home in Bembridge on the Isle of Wight. The first new UK-built aircraft currently in production at Bembridge is destined for service with the Falkland Islands Government Aviation Service (FIGAS). To support the reshoring programme, the British firm recently opened a new production line (images) as it prepares to quadruple output over the coming years. Chief Executive of Britten-Norman, William Hynett, said: “We are immensely proud to bring production back to the UK, where our manufacturing story began nearly seven decades ago. "This move underlines our dedication to the highest standards of quality, innovation, and the resurgence of British aerospace manufacturing." #UKmfg

BUILT IN BRITAIN: London North Eastern Railway's new fleet will be built in Britain after CAF Rail UK was awarded a contract worth hundreds of millions of pounds to build and maintain the trains at its factory in Newport, South Wales. The ten tri-mode trains, which can operate in electric, diesel or battery mode, will be assembled at CAF Rail's Newport plant prior to entering passenger service on the LNER-operated East Coast Main Line. CAF Rail's £30 million Newport factory - the Spanish-owned firm's first in the UK - opened in 2018 and employs more than 220 people. #UKmfg
